As practiced, medication is combined with other treatments such as CBT or self-help techniques. Taking medication alone is considered by many as ineffective treatment for panic attacks unless coupled with some lifestyle change or mind and behavior pattern shift.

Meditation and/or Hypnosis

Meditation and hypnosis are my preferred method for treating panic attacks, especially hypnosis audios.  I used to get severe anxiety and panic attacks flying and public speaking.  I can’t say I don’t get nervous flying or public speaking, but I do it (I used to never fly and avoided public speaking whenever possible).

Is meditation and/or hypnosis for you?

You’ll never know until you try it.  I hesitated and resisted for a long time, but kept reading how effective meditation and hypnosis was for treating anxiety-related conditions.  I finally gave meditation a try, but struggled with lack of direction.  That’s when I found hypnosis audios, which are very directed and not that long.

I also found starting with hypnosis MP3s a good starting practice to establish a meditation practice.  Jumping into meditation is very difficult.  I struggled a lot.  The hypnosis MP3s made it easier to learn and practice sitting for more than 15 minutes.

Hypnosis for Panic Attacks: A Natural Panic Attacks Treatment Option

I’m pretty open-minded when it comes to panic attacks treatment.  I’m not one of those people that pound the table against prescription drugs.  On the flip side I’m also a proponent for meditation and hypnosis for panic attacks.   In fact, I’m a believer that prescription drugs is a good way to kick-start treatment, but long term treatment is achieved at a deeper level … in the mind.
